About

Hello there. My name is Alex Garde, and I am a percussionist based in Houston, Texas. While building a more permanent and substantial website is on my short-term to-do list, this Carrd site contains the most pertinent information about who I am and what I do. Read on for my short biography, visit the Contact Page for information about how to reach me, and check out the link icons below to find my work and socials.

Alexander Garde is a multi-disciplinary percussionist based in Houston, Texas, pursuing his master’s degree at Rice University under the tutelage of Matthew Strauss. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying with William Hudgins and Daniel Bauch. Alex is a strong proponent of the importance of contemporary music; he is a founding member of Alinéa, a new music ensemble based in Boston, with whom he has performed influential contemporary music by great composers of the present and future. Additionally, Alex’s orchestral focus has led him to perform with a multitude of ensembles, including the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Civic Symphony, as well as with festivals around the world, including the Tanglewood Music Center, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, and the Round Top Festival Institute. An advocate for community outreach and education, Alex proudly works with DaCamera in Houston as a Young Artist and previously with NEC’s Preparatory School as an ensemble manager and percussion coach to inspire the next generation of musicians. Outside of music, Alex enjoys golfing, skiing, photography, and sipping coffee with friends.
